Winning. It’s a word we’re taught to crave from an early age. Win the race. Win the argument. Win the job. Win the battle. It’s plastered across sports ads, motivational posters, and self-help books. And yet, the more I chased what culture called “winning,” the more I felt like I was losing myself.
I had the checklists. I hit the milestones. I smiled for the photos. But internally? I was tired. Anxious. Disconnected from peace. That’s when I began to question what “winning” really meant.
Culture tells us that winning is being on top — of our finances, our fitness, our careers, and even our faith. But what if that version of success is costing us our souls?
Through years of personal struggle and spiritual awakening, I came to this liberating conclusion: God’s definition of winning is radically different from the world’s.
In God’s Kingdom, winning looks like humility. It looks like obedience. It looks like resting when the world tells you to grind. It looks like walking away from a fight you know isn’t yours. It looks like surrender.
The world says, “Don’t give up.” God says, “Lay it down.” The world says, “Push harder.” God says, “Be still.” The world says, “You must earn it.” God says, “Receive it.”
That’s the heart of White Flagging. It’s not about becoming passive or detached. It’s about realizing that real power comes not from dominating, but from discerning. From choosing peace over pride. From letting go of the need to always win — and instead, choosing to walk in wisdom.
I wrote this book for anyone who’s tired of winning by the world’s standards and ready to win by heaven’s. For those who want a life marked not by striving, but by serenity.
