There’s a tiredness that no sleep can fix.

It creeps in slowly, like fog. One day you’re pushing through, running your list, checking your boxes — and the next, you’re sitting in your car wondering how you got there. You’re functioning. You’re present. But inside, you’re empty.

That’s emotional exhaustion. And it’s not laziness. It’s not weakness. It’s a signal — a holy one.

It’s a whisper from your soul saying: There’s too much weight here. Let go.

I lived in that place longer than I’d like to admit. I believed exhaustion was just part of success. I thought burning out meant I was doing something right. Everyone around me was just as busy, just as burdened. But what I didn’t realize was that I had made a lifestyle out of striving — and my soul was starving for peace.

Here’s what emotional exhaustion really is: it’s the body and spirit telling you that you’re carrying something God never meant for you to carry.

It’s the product of: – Performing to prove your worth – Trying to fix what’s not yours to fix – Holding it all together while breaking inside – Praying but not releasing

That was my story. I prayed, but I didn’t trust. I worshipped, but I didn’t release. I asked for peace while living in pressure.

God didn’t design us for this. He designed us for rhythm. For grace. For rest.

And when we break — when we’re too tired to fake it — that’s not failure. That’s an invitation to surrender.

In my lowest season, I learned that surrender is not a crisis move. It’s a healing one. I stopped praying for energy to keep going. I started praying for courage to let go.

And when I did? God showed up in ways I never expected. Doors I’d been forcing began to open. Conversations I was dreading turned to grace. And for the first time in a long time, I felt light again.

In White Flagging: The Surprising Power of Winning by Surrender, I write about how emotional exhaustion brought me back to God’s design. How burnout became my wake-up call. How letting go brought me back to life.

🗓️ August 5, the message goes public.

My book will launch on Amazon for just $0.99, and I believe it’s going to meet many people exactly where they are — worn out, but not done.

You’re not lazy. You’re not weak. You’re tired because you’ve been too strong for too long.

Let surrender carry you where striving never could.
