No moment in history captures the tension between strength and surrender like the Cross.
Here was Jesus — the Son of God, full of divine authority and supernatural power — allowing Himself to be mocked, beaten, and nailed to wood. At any moment, He could’ve stopped it. He could’ve summoned angels. He could’ve proven everyone wrong.
But He didn’t.
Why? Because He understood the assignment: Yielding wasn’t weakness. It was victory in disguise.
So many of us have been taught that yielding makes you vulnerable, easy to manipulate, or powerless. But when we look at the Cross, we see the opposite. We see that the greatest act of power came through the greatest act of surrender.
Jesus didn’t lose control on the Cross — He chose to release it. And in doing so, He flipped the entire world’s narrative of power upside down.
That example changed how I view surrender. It showed me that I don’t need to defend myself when God is my defender. That I don’t need to control outcomes when God is sovereign. That I don’t need to chase justice when God sees all.
Yielding doesn’t mean agreeing with injustice. It means trusting that God is bigger than it. It means choosing grace over revenge, trust over control, and obedience over ego.
In White Flagging, I write about the radical peace that comes when we follow Christ’s example — when we stop trying to win every argument and start walking in divine alignment.
If the Cross teaches us anything, it’s this: There is unimaginable power in surrender.
